Government to Launch Vocational Training for the Poor on November 14

KANDAL: Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the Royal Government has prepared hundreds of millions of dollars to provide technical training for the poor and increase their salaries.

The PM spoke to a crowd of nearly 20,000 workers in Takhmao City, Kandal Province about plans to provide free technical training to the poor which were announced by his father, former Prime Minister Hun Sen, earlier this year. He encouraged the workers to enroll when the time comes on November 14.

He added that the government will also provide an additional 280,000 Riels (about $68) per month for those enrolled in a training program.

The PM asked that the Ministry of Labor ensure that the technical training provides a complete education that leads to employment. He asked that the ministry collaborate with the private sector to understand their hiring needs.

He said that the process for applying should be streamlined and easy. "Let the relevant ministries and institutions prepare the registration to be easy, not complicated, in order to avoid difficult registration for our workers," he said.

At the same time, he added that education must come with a moral attitude.

Vocational training for 1.5 million young people from poor and vulnerable families is scheduled to start on November 14, along with the implementation of the social health care program for self-employed individuals and their dependents under the presidency of Prime Minister Hun Manet.
